7RM rechambered to 7STW?

Shoooottttsssss liiiikkkeee aaaa llllaaaaseeerrr beam.....(figuratively speaking lol)......Not everyone wants to mortar in heavy bullets.
yup... I'm around 3350 fps with a 140gr tipped boat tail bullet that shoots under an inch at 200 yards- nice mild accurate rifle... I've got heavy hitters with high bc bullets (even have a 8# 375h&h if you like thumpers) but sometimes a different sort of tool is best.

Well, back to my question as to "why", when 3350 with an STW isn't a problem with 162 or 168 gr bullets.
140s are for 6.5s imop.
But yes you would need at least a 26" barrel.
I have a 26 3/4" on a 7x300 Wby which is pretty much a clone as for velocity to the 7 STW. I can easily obtain 3350 with 162s
Using 7828. Fact is the same load in another i have with a 30" barrel isn't any faster.
3500 FPS using those bullets in 28" and longer can be reached also.
I don't see the point in rechambering to the larger case without the barrel it needs for max performance.
Using lighter bullets just to achieve velocity numbers might sound better than than it would prove to be.

at what pressure? 3600 fps from a 7stw is over pressure from a 26" pipe with any available powder.. it takes 60 Kpsi or so just to get 3350 fps from a 140 with rl25, and that's a double based powder that fills the case...
Mine is a 26", and comparing my brass to factory loads fired in my chamber to the 0.0001" I am fine.
The case expansion tells the whole story.

nope, it doesn't... you need a strain gauge... case expansion is like reading primers; it is a tell but not the whole story.. Anyway, damage your rifle if you want... It's simply not my problem and I am not going to argue with you about it.

Because I simply do not want to push my rifle... It does plenty well where it is; I've gone through a number of barrels now on 7mm's that were run full throttle. This pipe shoots well and I really do not feel like dropping hundreds on a re-barrel. I am hunting deer with this rifle; a 162 at 3300 fps or a 140 at 3300 fps is a moot point. I'll go through it at any angle I can put a bullet in and the bullet will hit hard enough that a well hit deer will drop within feet.

I get what you are saying. Those are impressive speeds for a 168 grain bullet. Some rifles will not shot 168 as accurately as 140/150. In hunting situations in the West I've seen that faster "flat" shooting rifles excel.
