i am looking at building a 6.5 PRC off the origin action. I will be using this for western mule deer, antelope and maybe elk. Here is my list. What do you think.

Bighorn Origin short action-$825
Proof Sendero light-prefit straightjacket-$1000
Mesa altitude stock-$600
Triggertech special-$200
Remington BDL bottom Metal-$150
Muzzle break?-$150
Total-$2925

I haven't researched it so I'm not sure but will a prc loaded with a long bullet fit in a short action?

The prc has a long freebore of 0.188" designed for the heavy eld bullets seated 50 thou off. Running it in the origin, I'd contact bighorn as see if you can use a wyatt's mbe-4, or bainey 3b mag box so you can load close to the lands. Guys who want to stay short coal run a 140 freebore and that puts factory ammo right into the lands. Just something to think about. I have an origin shooting 25 Creedmoor, and it's a decent action. However I wish I'd spent another few $ and gotten a little classier option. It's decent for what you pay, but it's no Cadillac!

Straight jacket has a short reamer for the PRC, it will run well in a short action. They built mine with a .133 I think they use a .140 now or around there

Edit* you need a Wyatt's box internal box not regular length, idk if origins are compatible with a Wyatt's box or not

I have a 6.5PRC with the Origen and Proof 24" Sendero. Built by StraightJacket. What do you want to know? My rifle came out a bit heavier than expected at 9lbs with scope.

I'm running a 6.5 PRC origin with a BDL setup on on Wyatt's mag. Wyatt has a PRC follower now, so specify that in your order. My gun is 8lbs ready to hunt. I don't think you need a brake. I'd also just go with a #2 cut rifle barrel and save yourself $500 over the carbon fiber wrapped, but that's me. My rock creek #2 prefit from PVA shoots great. Let me know if you have any questions.

Is there another action that would fit the PRC better. I could go long action and bite the bullet on titanium to save weight? I have always wanted an LPA razor ti

I used the Origin action so that I could switch barrels. The bolt heads are interchangeable and cheaper than replacing the entire bolt.

Borden ridgeline is perfect for this cartridge

Terminus Apollo is built with 6.5 prc in mind for shorts. Can fit 3" with a Wyatt's.

The Mesa Precision crux ti short action is built to take a bainey 3b box that takes cartridge up to 3.11" Their website states wyatt's box, but I talk to John Hakes the owner a while back and it can be cut for the longer bainey.

So will the Apollo fit the Wyatt PRC kit? The Apollo lite ti looks interesting but it's not much lighter than the bighorn.
