I picked this thing up at a pawn shop today and would like to know if anyone can give me any info on it. I know high tech specialties made rifle stocks, but did they ever build rifles?

It has a 22" barrel chambered in 300 win. mag and the action and bolt have had some machining done to lighten it up. I dont have a good scale, but it is very light.

I picked it up for $700 out the door, which I feel pretty good about.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. 20190718_140326.jpg 20190718_140359.jpg 20190718_141042.jpg 20190718_141227.jpg 20190718_141349.jpg

Shoot it and see if it was worth the $$$. I've found some gems at pawn shops.
Good luck

I had a High Tech out of the Springs. Had mixed feelings about it and traded it. I had it actually built. Looks like yours for $700 is a good buy though and you can probably make a few bucks on it. Not a fan of the bolt work on that one, but different strokes for different folks.

You would have had a high tech customs rifle, the op bought a high tech specialties -- pretty sure they ar different companies

emtyhopper,

I guess we can assume that this will be a hunting rifle?

Lightweight rifles can be a handful with full house loads and heavy bullets but some of this recoil can be mitigated by using cooler powders and somewhat lighter bullets.

I can suggest from real world experience that Re-23 with a Berger 175 grain VLD is manageable in a lighter rifle. The added benefit here is the powder burns fairly quick in the barrel so it has time to cool down some before the plasma exits. No big fireball.:)
