I ordered my springer (HW98) and it's being modified by someone more experienced than I (which is just about anyone) to make it quieter, faster, able to leap tall buildings with...sorry, got carried away.

I need to get a scope that can stand up to the vibes from my gun, although, it should be way more smooth after it's been modified.

1) It needs to be able to magnify rabbits up to 50yds, so my "older" eyes get some help.
2) I'd like it to be low light capable, as the critters are most active at pre-dawn, and dusk.
3) Not sure if I need an illuminated reticle, but am open to opinions.

I am open to suggestions!

hawke Air rifle scope. Call Steve Collara at 504-271-2538 for any info on the scope. He can give you an idea of what you would need. His prices aren't too bad either.
How functional is their illuminated reticle? I've seen some reviews saying it's a waste of money. Not just in regards to Hawke, but that feature in general.

Let me preface this by saying I am a S&B/TT/Premier guy myself.

I just bought a cheap Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18×44 for a 6.5CM I am giving to my daughter. For $700 into a rifle, base, rings and scope, I am fairly impressed. I have rounds loaded up to shoot next weekend to start developing a load.

Time will tell if it holds up, but the glass is pretty good for the price. Clarity is decent, color is good, edge to edge is OK, no CA, but haven't shot it yet.
Reticle is MOA EBR-4 w. 2 MOA subtensions, and illuminated. Illumination is really bright, like full sun midday bright. 11 settings. Pretty good for $379.
Turrets are able to turn. About all can say on them. Mushy, but you can feel the clicks.
30mm tube and 25.5oz.
"Best warranty around", which is comforting. Hope I never use it.

Being on a tuned HW you'll still need a spring gun rated scope if you want it to last. Hawke is about my favorite air gun scope, specifically the Airmax with AMX reticle in any of the 3 configurations. 2x7, 3x9, 4x12 but truth be told I shot my EDgun Supermagnum .25 at 316 yards with my 4x12 on 4x as I needed that much holdover. Plus the reticle is nice & thin.
As far as a illuminated reticle. If you have problems seeing a reticle it might help. I don't shoot with an illuminated one. If I was using a Centerfire & illuminated German post center dot or something for faster placement yes. Airguns are all about perfect placement so I would personally skip illuminated. In fact after dusk all you're ever going to see is a bright reticle unless you set it on lowest setting of brightness & use a good game light set at distance you'll be hunting.
Hey, I have (3) 6x24x50 illuminated reticle Leapers spring rates scopes. You want to try one & see if you like it you pay shipping to & back. If you decide you want to keep I deduct shipping & new I honestly forget price but Hawke line up on Airmax is $178, $198, $212.00 for 7/9/12x Max & I personally want all 2x7 & 3x9.
Email or request phone # if you want to try the Leapers.

Thanks for the offer.
I already got a Hawke Airmax 30SF 4-16x50.
I got my rifle back from the guy who modified it (Springgunner.com) and it shoots tacks to 75yds so far.

The f--ked up thing is, literally the day I got the rifle, the rabbits stopped showing in my yard! Three years I've had rabbits, and the day I get my rifle they stop. Must have seen me sighting it in, had a group meeting, and decided to relocate...
