looking for ACTUAL experience and opinions with the Berger Elite Hunters. I am looking at giving the 180 grain in 30 cal a try. Thanks in advance.

I run the 180's in one of my two 300 win mags, as well as the Elite hunters in multiple other calibers. They have been easy to find a accurate load for. I start them at .010" off the lands, find a powder charge and then tweak seat depth but usually end up really close to the .010" I started at. I've taken Game with the elite hunters 6.5 cal 140, 7mm 175, 30 cal 180 and 338 cal 300. Very happy with the performance on everything. Only one I have ever got a exit wound with is the 338 cal 300 so if exit wounds are something you want then it may not be the bullet for you. On the flip side everything I've hit with one typically drops in its tracks and the farthest I've had anything go is 30-40 yards out of around 50 animals taken with them. They fragment a good bit so shoulder shots can lead to a bit of meat damage.

Yep, hybrid ogive with a thinner jacket as compared to the target line to ensure expansion on game. They definitely expand. My experience is they shed roughly 2/3 their weight as frag. I rarely find much if any bullet on the offside of the animal

Killed a WT doe at about 70 yards last year with one. 180 gr from a 22" barreled 30-06. Using H4831sc gets me about 2727 FPS. All the creedmore shooters had all the H4350 when I developed that load.

Typical Berger accuracy. At that velocity I think weight is about right for that rifle. Any higher ie WM at the range it was shot, I may be concerned.

I have never needed to send a second shot!
7mm 175 gr EH.

My experience was with the 140gr 6.5 Creedmoor. Lung shot at 80 yards, went through like a pencil, no expansion. deer jumped up ran 50 yards another lung shot, blew the clot out from the first shot. Deer did die.

love the accuracy but going with Hammers or 143 ELDX this year. i think the elite hunters are for longer range shots

Someone please tell me where you can get Berger bullets at a cheaper price.I bought a sample pack of 12 to try for my .308.I guess you get what you pay for.

Berger is already cheaper than pretty much all other premium hunting bullets. Cheaper than Nosler, Swift, Barnes, etc. so not sure what you're expecting? You might find some sites that sell for a few bucks cheaper, but not gonna get the deal of the century. Best bet is to wait for storeqide sales if you want to save a few bucks
