6.5 bullet suggestion

If you wish to keep price down I would first look at factory second blemished bullets. The ones I use provide excellent accuracy. if you want low recoil pleasant to shoot loads the 100 to 129gr bullets can give excellent 100yd accuracy with mild recoil.

I'm not really concerned with bullet weight for recoil purposes-- she has shot factory s&b 140 grain ammo and also the hornady factory 120gr match ammo-- she cant tell the difference in recoil and she shoots them both fine--- I'd like a "less expensive" bullet so she can have plenty if trigger time....right now any handload will be more accurate than she is -- but, I'd like to build an accurate load so as her skill level increases the ammo will not be the limiting factor

Most of this will be shot at 100 yards, working all the way out to 600 as she progresses at the gun club-- but it would be nice to have a lead core bullet as a hunting back up also. I want to have a fairly accurate load built quickly so it gets her as much trigger time as possible.
-- it's a mental block for me to have just 1 of anything (2 is 1 and 1 is none) I always have too many

so I'm going to reload some range/practice ammo for my daughters 6.5cm rifle

I'm looking for an "easy to find accuracy" bullet for practice at the range on paper and for steel

what bullet has given you good accuracy and was easy/quick to find the load for? the more time we can spend practicing at the range the better so I hope to not have to spend lots of time finding an accurate load.

I know each rifle is different but usually there seems to be a pattern with these things

I would prefer a "less expensive" bullet as these will be for practice for her and we don't need "premium" at this time-- a "dual purpose" target/hunting bullet would be nice but not necessary as I will most likely load up some HH bullets for her hunting loads

as far as powder, I have RL16 and varget, but I know H4350 is very popular too and available at my LGS

what have been your "easy to load" bullets for this cartridge?
I used the Hornady 147gr with H4895

I used the 147gr Hornady with H4350. My profile photo is the first shots.

try the Hornady BTHP Match bullets. mid south has the 123 and 140 at a reasonable price. I use the 6.5 140s in my PRC and the 7mm 162s in my 284 win they are plenty good enough for punching paper and banging steel out to 500 yds.

Been running eldm in 6mm and 6.5. 108, 140, 147. I have multiple 6.5-284's and a several 6.5 creeds. In the creed the 140 eldm has always been easy to tune and works well both in target and game.

I shoot a 260 Remington. I have used the 130 and 140 Berger's. 4350 would be the better. You could even use H4831 or H4831SC. Hornadys superformance powder is everywhere also, and it's made by Hodgdons. Those would be great. Now a new powder that is out that I do have but I haven't used yet is the fairly new IMR 4451. It's supposed to be similar to H4350 and it's insensitive to temp change also. I really hope this helps. I just wanted to give you a few options.

+1sierra MK. Well priced and accurate. Great for practice and some of my friends compete with them very successfully

I normally shoot SMK's in mine but I think I'm going to try the Nosler RDF 140 grain. Like most bullets, some rifles like them, some don't.
