OCW opinions...?????

I'm not saying it's right or wrong but I was told that you want to see a 3 shot group like a triangle because it shows consistency better than a strung group (horizontal or vertical).... I'm certainly learning something here
That is absolutely true, but not at this stage. That particular aspect comes into play with the seating test.

I thought I should work with 46.1, but now I see what your saying , which is that I should be working around 45.5..?

Wow.... that's an inpressive read... but what would it mean if just one of the rounds in the 45.5 group was pulled or displaced by shooter error which would cause the group center to change.... would that render your theory inaccurate, what's the percentage of accuracy only using the 3 shot groups?
Exactly why these ladder type tests are a waste of time, components and barrel life, SHOOTER ERROR. Until you can LOCK a gun down and take 99% of human contact out (like the handguns Ransom Rest) These test will really not prove anything monumental . always over- thunk,

Take 46.1 Chrono it, if speed is good and you can hold it steady and repeat, load em up and shoot

Just my opinion

Here's 4 groups of 5 with 46.1.... just doesn't look good to me, what's the thoughts of you guys?

I called the flyer on the lower right group....

My Opinion sux but here it is
1. Ditch the Scenars
2. Buy some Sierra Match Kings 168gr or Berger VLD's
3. Have it bedded by a GOOD smith
4. Replace trigger with a Trigger Tech Diamond
this should shrink your groups by a .25"

other than these, I think, you're chasing Unicorns. That's about as good as that gun will shoot

While bedding it have him true the action to a Keiger, bartline 1-10 barrel and shoot < .50" MOA

I have a Remy 700 5R .223, 20" barrel, I get .50" MOA, had everything done above accept the barrel.

again just my old opinion

oh yea, I'm great at spending other peoples money;)

From 46.1 to 46.7 your group centers are moving in a downward slope, and they are all clocking to a slightly different angle from POA.

46.3 and 46.5 are really close as far as the angle, but the group center is falling.

The loads that plateau when the barrel is traveling up are the ones to chase as they are the most consistent. You can Look up "positive compensation" when you have lots of time. That subject takes pages to discuss and it has been a long time since I dove into it. But in a nut shell, gravity can work with you when the barrel is at the top of it's travel. It does the opposite when at the bottom of it's travel.

Also, the loads at the upper range of pressure are almost universally narrow and finicky to tune. In the summer heat you will likely regret using them.
Good analysis

Never shot the ELDm's when I had my .308 But yes they rock in my 5.6 Creedmoor, for sure give them a try..

I wish bullet manufactures would offer 15 bullet "test" packs:mad:
