Remington 700 Long Range 300 RUM

Actually it isn't. I ran 89-89.5 Retumbo for a while in the beginning, a nice mild velocity, but the SD/ES started getting larger. Moved up in .5 grain increments, up to 95.5grs, still no heavy bolt lift. The 94.0 gr load, with Norma case, CCI-250, 208 ELDM, OAL 3.692, was the best, with a 9 SD, 22 ES. The Norma is holding up well as can be expected after 4 firings. I also use a coveted stash of original Rem brass.
Are you are seating them deep? How far are you jumping these?

What's your fps with that load? Must be pretty warm load. I'm only using 89 retumbo 210 vld, at 3050fps. Rem sps with break. accurate usually 1/2 MOA out to 700yds
You can break 3000 fps with 215's in a properly throated 300 wm and 26" barrel, so with your load of 3050 and those 210's in a rum your brass/throat should last pretty long too, with very good performance.

The fit and finish on some of the Long Ranges hasn't been great. But so far the ones I heard of shot well. Here's my buddy's 300 win Mag LR in a Magpul stock group. It's lighter and better balanced than my PSS 308 win for offhand shots. I'm saving up for one to be my long range hunter rifle. 2925fps average on this group with 208gr HRN. And he still has a grain of powder more to go.

I can't locate my original To-Lands Length, off hand, but the 208 ELDM, 212 ELDX & 210 VLDH are seated to max mag length. They have a long jump, but it'll do .600-.750 groups @100yds. Not putting no more $$$ into an extended mag box, until I wear out this barrel and it get's re-chambered to a 338 Super Duper Soul Reaper magnum whatever sumthin' sumthin'....?

Wear out that barrel then rebarrel to another 300 rum. Now you've got a loading map, loading experience and components .

I'll be perfectly honest, and a lot of people think I'm nuts.
When I bought this 700 LR I ordered a Remage 300 RUM barrel. I'll give a factory barrel a fair chance to show its true potential. But historically I've had bad luck with Remington pipes.

Years ago I completely shot out a 700 XCR 338 Win Mag 7.5 lb naked rifle no brake tryingto get it to shoot. If you've ever owned a 338wm you know how the barrel life is almost as long as as a 30.06.
That's a lot of punishment.

Looks like this barrel is much better.

I'm trying too?! This is my second go 'round with the 300RUM! I'l stay with it and do an extended box and better barrel in the end. YES I have a book and PC with lots of data!

Ugh.

You guys gotta stop talking 300 RUM, or I'm gonna end up with one!!
A guys only got so much willpower...

I've thought the same myself but then I realize that being a mechanic by trade requires that my rotator cuff stay intact. It's in my contract somewhere...I think... Well, that's my excuse anyway
