IMR 8133?

I have thought about forming some of the 338 edge Bertram brass I have down to 30 Nosler. But someone pointed out to me the Bertram brass is thick and will have less capacity. Velocitys will probably be about the same but brass life would be much better. So it's just up to you whether it's worth the effort or not. 8133 should produce top velocitys with the 230s I just hope it's as temp stable as they claim.

I figured I might give it a try just for the experience of doing it. I'm hoping the 8133 is the key to pushing the 230 myself but am plenty happy with the 215 at 3100. I still need to refine that load and see what I can get for accuracy from it but right now I'm sitting with .5 - .75" groups at 100 yards with about any bullet or powder I shoot out of it. I need to play with some new Federal match primers that I picked up vs the CCI that all my loads have used.

Primers sometimes cut groups in half. That is the last thing I change after working up a load. I don't start the load over. I use the finalized load and try five shot groups with different primers all on the same day.

I hope it all works out for you, can't know for sure until you try. If it does you will be set. Great brass life and 215s over 3100fps mag fed, what more can you ask for....

I picked up 8# from Mid-South, yesterday just as free hazmat was expiring. Hope to try it in 7stw and 300wm with heavies. It would be nice if it will work in my 6.5 Sherman w/ 150 matrix or the new Berger. We should know more about this offering after SHOT.

I feel the same way about IMR 4350. It'a a beautiful thing in the "ole '06 and the '06 is the pickup truck of rifle calibers.

I agree about the IMR 4350.Use it in 25-06,280,06,35 Whelen ,338 and 300WM.

Has anybody used this in a 28 Nosler? I was hoping to find a powder that is temp stable, but not as expensive as VV570. I have RL33 and like the results, but the temp factor and fouling is beginning to draw me away from this powder.

I wish someone could tell me for sure, but I believe the Enduron powders may be Hodgdon with copper remover added. The 7977 that I tried seemed to be the same as H1000 and 8133 is said to be the same burn rate as Retumbo, so..........they ARE both owned by

Why wouldn't they just add copper eliminator to the Hodgdon powders? They already market a few between rifle and pistol. Interesting thought though. The loads for 8133 are different enough on their site to lead one to believe they are different.

They are different loads because they are trying to push their new product. Look at the psi they run max to with the new powder compared to the"old" powder. Most loads with the new powder they run higher psi to make it look better. That's what I've noticed at least...

That's sort of what I was getting at by saying that they are leading one to believe they're different.

However in 280 AI with a 175gr bullet, the Retumbo is 5.2gr lighter for only 300psi lower than the 8133 load. 5.2gr more produced an additional 60fps.

I sure hope 8133 (if it really is just CFE+Retumbo) works better and somehow helps stabilize the Retumbo. I have never been able to get Retumbo to work consistently for any cartridge. Which is why I hope it's something totally new and different. I've had more luck with the IMR powders than the Hodgdon slower magnum powders, like H1000 & Retumbo, which were spotty and inconsistent from charge to charge, and from day to day.

I have had good consistency with both of those powders, but don't need 2 of each

I've shot a lot of H-1000 and Retumbo and have had very good results from both. 7828 is also a go-to powder.

I'm pretty sure 8133 is not Retumbo, for you powder conspirators.
