My youngest son picked up a complete AAC 300 Blackout Upper receiver with a 8 or 9 inch barrel. I can't remember it's exact length. He asked me to load up some Coyote rounds for him so I picked up some Hornady 220 gr ELD-X Bullets yesterday at Cabelas in DE. He will be hunting with a suppressor.

This is the first time I have ever reloaded 300 BO.

Any suggestions on a recipe for these 220 gr ELD-X bullets?

I am also open for any suggestions on 300 BO Coyote loads that you may have used.

I am also going to try some Hornady 150 FMJ & Sierra 168 Match Kings for plinking at the range.

I have 228 300 BO cases that I am starting to prime on my T7. Now I need some recipes that work well on Coyotes.

I have 2 8.5" barrels and 1 16". I've only loaded up to 185gr and most are fmj's and a few varmint loads. Most loads are with 296, h110 or 1680.

I've got a 10.5" and 16" 300 BLK. I wouldn't consider the 220 gr ELDX a coyote round though. At subsonic speeds, you aren't likely to have much expansion. I'd probably look at the 110 gr Vmax.

I use 220 gr Nosler custom comps with VV N110 for subsonic loads. I've had good luck with IMR 4227 and CFE BLK for super sonic loads.

I've been running 9 grn of H110 under the 220. In my gun (16.5" bolt gun) I'm right at 1016fps. You may have to adjust that or your gas block to get a gas gun to cycle, not sure. No issues cycling in a bolt gun.lol

With every 300bo load I develope, none are for sub. I want a minimum of 1k mezzle energy and actually load specifically for that requirement. Bullet weights from 110-185 for distances out to 500 yards with 135's and less. 150's and greater out to 300.

110 Barns or 110Vmax would be a much better option for coyotes. I reloaded a few 178eld subs with 2400 that shot good out of both the 9" & 16" but will not expand .
Subs are fun but you have to adjust to exact yardages and dont expect them to expand. Even without a can subs are funny quiet out of the 16" barrel.
That 110 grain Barns is a nasty varmint bullet. In the blackout they work good, in a 308 or 30-06 they are devastating!
The 110 carbine bullets with a little work make a good plinking bullet😉 Just dont epect to shoot them past 350 yards.

Any suggestions on a recipe for these 220 gr ELD-X bullets?
A1680 will help it cycle with subs. You'll probably end up somewhere between 11.4-12.4 gn with a 220. 11.8gn gets me 1050 FPS from an 8" AR upper, and it cycles. Mine cycles with an H2 buffer and a nonadjustable gas block.

I am also open for any suggestions on 300 BO Coyote loads that you may have used.

With ~19gn of H110. They'll get sent in a hurry.

I am also going to try some Hornady 150 FMJ & Sierra 168 Match Kings for plinking at the range.
I don't waste good bullets like SMKs on a short barreled AR at the range. Berrys work great to mess around with.

With a mbpr of about 80yds on a 4" target you'd be better off using a shotgun than subsonic loads out of a 300blk.
Nah, you just need to be capable of using a reticle. TreMOR3 is great for this with the wind dot system since you only have to worry about the vertical holds, wind is consistent.

Or since it's nighttime hunting get an NV/thermal with a laser. I tested my ATN out to 275 yards with the laser - click, shoot, hit. Drop it back to 50 and it zeros again. Run it out to the next yard line - click, shoot, hit. Nothing to it.

Subs are fun but you have to adjust to exact yardages and dont expect them to expand.
Just need to run bullets designed to expand at subsonic speeds. I use Makers, but Leheigh makes them also.
