WTB Bullets for Load Development

I have an idea . . . not sure if anyone has tried this before . . . but here goes.

I'm trying to develop the optimal load for my 7mm RUM, but I don't want to buy 6 or 7 different types of bullets in 50 or 100 counts. I really only need 25 counts of each kind of bullet - 5 shot groups and 5 different powder charges per bullet brand/weight. My rifle is a factory Remington 700 with 26" SS barrel (standard weight) - Bone Stock.

Is anyone willing to part with a mix-n-match of bullets that I can buy for the cost of $xx / 100 count (25 Swifts, 25 Noslers, 25 Bergers, 25 Sierra's)?

I'm interested in the following brands, the heavier the better providing that they will shoot well.

Swift Scirocco II's
Nosler
Berger
Sierra SMK 168's
Hornady

I'm just trying to find the perfect load without ending up with 75 each bullets for 4 different brands of bullets that I will likely never shoot.

The ones that don't work out load them light and use them for foulers. As hard as componets are to find now I can't see any one giving them up.

By the time you shoot all 125 of those you will have shot 1/4th the barrel life out of your 7rum. Better would be to shoot 1 bullet known to be rather easy to get shooting, like a sierra or accubond and work it with a couple of powders. You can get her shooting quicker bullet count wise and you aren't left chasing your tail with a half shot out rifle.

What powders do you have on hand?? What are you shooting with this rifle and at what range?? I shot my bdl 7rum tired in 600 shots, and I'm still kicking myself for playing with it at the range. The hunting load was 3 of the first 30 rounds out of the pipe. A heck of a rifle, killed by playing at the range. I've worked with two 7rums; I may be able to help get yours shooting without killing it first.

Lefty, that's what I do. I pick my bullet and weight, then develope from there.

I shoot 160gr Accubonds for hunting with all my 7mm's. but for target shooting I shooting with rhe STW I shoot the Nosler Custom Comp 168gr. Can't wait for the Accubond 168's so I won't have to re-dope my scope.

I agree with the previous posts on not burning through so many different bullets in the 7mm RUM. If you are so inclined to do so, however, you can go over to Bullet Samples for Sportsmen Rifles and they will sell you as many or as few bullets as you'd like.

I shoot 160gr Accubonds for hunting with all my 7mm's. but for target shooting I shooting with rhe STW I shoot the Nosler Custom Comp 168gr. Can't wait for the Accubond 168's so I won't have to re-dope my scope.

I usually shoot 140's from the 7's and 165-180's from the 30's, but the same thought applies. I like the pro-hunter 140 and accubond 140 with one of the slower RL powders or retumbo for an stw or the 7rum. If they don't produce accuracy one of the 50 cal. powders and a 160-175gr. is the next step up the line for a big 7.

I've been working with the 171 barnes match(leadcore barnes) in my 7stw and it shows real promise. I was hobbled by a few minor things on the rifle last year so I'll have to dang near start over this spring with load developement. The stw will give 1500 shots or so before she tires, so I've got a good # left if I can get it stable in the next few hundred shots. If not, she's getting a barrel either way.

A company called BULLET PROOF is selling packages of 12 bullets made by different companies. I don't know if you can get all the bullets you are looking for but they have quite a number of different ones.

Check their web site out. I think you can order from them or you can find Bullet Proof at various distributors.
