Headed out to our club yesterday with a selection of rifles. I'm still testing loads in my 22 Creed with a 26" Bartlein bbl.

I decided to try some RS Grand again after seeing good potential previously. Here's what I had loaded:
Hornady 88 ELD-M @ .014 off the rifling
Alpha SRP brass
CCI 450 primer
46.0 RS Grand

I was expecting to get about 3,200 fps. On the initial shot I noticed the recoil & report to be noticeably less than expected. There was no hole near my 1" orange dot on the 400yd target. I glanced down at the Garmin and it read 1,650fps. Hmmmm I dispense with a Chargemaster and then trickle up to the kernel on a FX12i, so I was highly confident in the charge, but I must have screwed up somewhere. I fire a second round and got the same results with light recoil & report. Velocity was 1,645fps. Now I'm baffled but still committed to firing the 3rd round. Results were the same and there were no visible holes on the target at 400yds.

What went wrong?

BTW - I did figure it out. :D

Ding-ding-ding, FrogFire and HSmith win the prize. When I grabbed the rifle out of the rack, I picked up my 6.5 Creed and began loading from the 22 Creed box.

I rarely make stupid mistakes but this sure was one of them.
I make them all the time, you'll get used to it after a while!😂

Yep it can happen to best of us! I went coyote hunting with a friend of mine and he was 500 yards away from me when I saw a coyote step out in front of him at 20yards. I kept wondering why he wasn't shooting. When I met up with him he had accidentally grabbed his .30-06 but had a .22-250 magazine for a similar rifle with him. Needless to say the coyote was safe that day. 😂
