What’s the farthest you have taken a big game animal with a rifle?

I shot my furthest this weekend at 465 yards on a whitetail doe. I'm sure I'm not even close to the farthest and probably not even what some consider long range but it's pretty far for me. I used a 6mm creedmoor 88gr hammer hunter 3340fps at muzzle and 2240 estimated at impact.

It got me thinking about how far other people have taken animals. Post em up with what cartridge and loads you used.

Elk at 890 yards using a 300RUM (most of my elk kills are in the 5-700yd range), several deer and similar in the 700-800+ range with 25-06, 6mmAI, etc, coyote 1,031 with 25-06 and 85NBT, and P-dogs over 1,000yds using 25-06 and 22-250AI.

I know this is a long range forum, but my furthest was 235 yards on a muley in western KS with a 280AI. Before that it was 168 yards with a 30-30, which was my first.

I wish that all of my shots could be under 50 yards, but I'm just not that good a hunter, have somewhat limited time, and often simply can't pass up a shot! memtb

Swift Scirocco on a 8 point whitetail.
Groundhogs out to 590, they are great for practicing.

Swift Scirocco on a 8 point whitetail.
Groundhogs out to 590, they are great for practicing.

I too practice all summer on groundhogs. They're my favorite animal to hunt. My longest is 512 on a woodchuck.
