Well the Deer hunt didn't go as planned but... .

Great shot!! Bobs are hard to pic of!!
Thanks, they are very sneaky bastards down here and we have lots of low brush for them to hide in. They are also primarily noctournal but with the drought and short food supply they are getting pretty desperate. All of the predators are pretty stressed this year and so we are seeing more of them moving at all times of day, much more actually. Most of the coyotes I've killed the last five months or so are down right pathetic and it seems like more of a public service to dispatch them than hunting.

How are the bellies down where your at?
Bellies? You lost me.

The bellies on a bobcat are where the $$$ are at, the fur on the belly is what is valuable on them other than over all just plain coolness. It's graded on the clarity, or whiteness of the belly, the definition and quality of the black spots and the width of the belly along with fur density. Get a belly pic on the next one :D

Man I didn't have a clue. The last Bobcat hide I sold brought around 325.00 if I remember right and that was around 1987-88 HA! gun)

Well I was taking a few pictures for the gun porn thread this evening and decided to take some of this set up.

Number one is my "ambush spot" where I hope to eventually get a shot at my 7 point. The dark spot in the middle of the gate is a young 3x3 Six point. It was getting late and low light so sorry about the quality. I took it through my scope which reduces the quality even more. I also had the scope dialed up to 24x which doesn't help with the low light.

Number two is the view from beside the scope down range. If you can see the grass that runs about mid picture from left to right and the rocks in the middle of it, the BC died just to the right of that line of rocks which is the tank dam.

Number three is my fancy LR shooting platform; a 350gallon water jug in the back of the truck HA!

The little buck kept acting like someone else was coming so I was pretty stoked thinking maybe my buck was going to pop out. Unfortunately it eventually turned out only to be a coyote. He died a few minutes later just to the right of the right gate post dead man just on the other side of the fence.

It was hilarious because he and the little buck had been going around in circles testing each other for about five minutes when the yote exploded... . Little buck lit out like his own head had exploded and then had to come back and check out the damage to see what had happened.

I was shooting directly into about 15mph north wind so I doubt he ever heard the shot. Oh from this vantage point the gate is 692yds.

Awesome stuff WR!!

I've been trying like hell to kill my first yote of the year so I could add a pic or two to LRH, but the coyotes seem a bit shy still. It hasn't been cold enough to convince them to come in to my terrible calling, I guess.

I think that place looks kind of familiar! I really need to take a few days off and come down and visit and unwind. I've seen you make some unbelievable shots, but would have loved to have seen you make that one on the bobcat.

Dave when I saw that login name I somehow instantly knew it was you.

Welcome to LRH.

Too bad we cancelled the trial for this weekend. I was looking forward to seeing you.

See you on the 7th of Jan instead.

I'm looking forward to it Charlie. I really need to get little Cindy to you so you can get her started for me! She reminds me of Annie... little bitty but 100% heart.
