I been packing a sawyer squeeze system. I been floating the idea of switching to tablets and carrying 6 liter or 10 liter MSR bag ... Does anyone have any experience with the tablets. I was told they give the water a funny taste. Better yet maybe someone can suggest a better water system

The chlorine dioxide tablets (i.e. Katadin micropur) work very well and don't taste bad at all.

You have to let the water sit for a couple of hours to kill viruses, but for normal mountain contaminants (giardia, bacteria) 15-20 minutes is sufficient.

These are what I use when I'm trying to save weight.
