Are they FFP or SFP scopes? I keep finding more scopes that I do not know anything about.

I'm still considering the WOTAC scopes if they are FFP like the Falcon Menace scopes.

I'm going to guess SFP given this quote from geargrinder:

"FFP=First Focal Plane

SFP=Second Focal Plane

FFP reticles change in size with the magnification allowing for ranging at any magnification setting.

SFP reticles are calibrated for ranging at specific magnification settings. "

And this quote from the Vortex website about their Dead Hold BDC reticle:

"Measured in MOA at the highest magnification"

I don't claim to know jack about the differences between the two but that is what I would deduce from what I've read. I'm sure someone far more educated on this specific topic will either correct what I've stated or concur.

Good luck and hope I didn't lead you in the wrong direction.

THANKS moses42ak,

I have time to get all the info on these scopes. If the Viper is SFP I'll be dissapionted because they sound like they have very good glass.

The WOtac is not FFP, I think for under 2 grand the Falcon is about you best choice for FFP from what I see. The new tac scope from Vortex will set you back 2000 bones and it is FFP or the Nightforce for about the same then you step up to upper deck.

I had to cross the Viper and Leupold off my list because they are SFP scopes.

Looks like I may get one of these: Falcon Menace Optics or the new Weaver Tacticle FFP scopes: Weaver Mounts - Tactical

I called Weaver and they told me that they are in the inspection stage and not selling them yet. They told me that this scope IS a FFP.

There are a few FFP scope priced between the Nightforce and Falcon.

There is the FFP Leupold Mark 4's and the IOR Valdada 3-18x42.

I think that they range from $1000-$1600 used to new.
