Vanguard 283cv

Campfire just had the Vanguard 283cv carbon fiber
with 114 panhead on sale for 200 bucks I ordered one being in need of a tripod. Does anyone have any experience with this unit. Let me know if it was a goof buy or if I should have saved my money for something else.
ps will mostly be used for Lieca 77 spotter.

The tripod is OK. The head is not ideal for glassing game - it has a very long arm and it's too stiff for panning quickly and smoothly. I would get a good panning head like the Slik SH-707E or the Jim White head.
