Tucker was a bit off base in his response. An M16 has a cyclic rate of fire of 750-900 rpm and and AK47 has a cyclic rate of 600. Neither melt barrels.

That's certainly true! Back in my M-16 days, I ran a few 2-300 Rd bursts with 20 rounders, but in my defense, they were shooting back at us.
