Tract scopes

Looking for feedback on the 3-15 and 4-20. I know James Eagleman has tested these and has a model he developed. Reviews seem to be positive.

Fwiw, I have a SFP T-plex 3-15 which is great for what it is. If forced to choose, I like it better than the VX5-HD.
I gather you're more interested in the FFP models, though. I have the 3-15 Eagleman, but it is still in the box waiting for me to finalize a 300WM build. Other than the silly wind arrow on the reticle, I have no reason to doubt I'll be pleased with it based on my experience with the SFP model.
I have no experience with the 4-20 and am also interested in feedback on it.

I've had 2 of the 2.5-15x44mm MOA/MOA FFP and have been very pleased with them. Scopes track really well with no issues returning to zero, Turrets are really nice. I can't speak much for durability because I haven't dropped them or banged them up on anything yet. The glass is really good for the price point.

I agree with everything JMM1990 shared with you. I have the 4-20 and again the glass is as clear as my German Zeiss.

I have the 2.5-15 on my wife's 6.5x47 Lapua. All of the controls are very nice, glass looks pretty good, eye relief is long.

Long term repeatability and durability is unproven so far.

I have a 30mm 4x20 x50 FFP demo I bought last year. It just came back from RW Hart & Son (Hart's Custom Rifles) mounted to an accurized R700 in 6.5 CM, so I have not used it yet.

The rifle has an AH19**** s/n from the American Hunter rifles built in 2019 in 6.5 CM with 20" fluted 5R barrels. It was built on Nov. 21, 2023. My research indicates AR rifle maker Anderson Manufacturing bought up everything in Remington's custom shop and was putting things together, selling some on their website and then on GunBroker thru Bryant Ridge - where I found this one. My rifle lacks the bolt, stock and floorplate of the American Hunters sold by Remington 1999-2000.

Bobby has access to a 600 yd range near his shop in PA, so he set up the scope with some Federal match ammo out to 600 yds. He is the one that told me about Tract several years ago in one of his long range shooting seminars that he conducts at Outdoors Shows.

I did take it out in the back yard and after a quick lookie the glass is noticeably better than some "off brand" scopes that are on used firearms I purchased last year in a side by side comparison. Most "average" whitetail deer hunters in NYS (that I know anyway) are absolutely not interested in buying a scope that costs anything close to what they are paying for a rifle. (I do not ask what they would spend on a motorcycle helmet).

I will try and get out to compare it to a Leupold VX Freedom 4x12 mounted on my Montana 1999 in 308 and report back. I can look out over the creek out 300-400 yards instead of just twigs when I was getting some pictures for another thread.

I have no other high quality scopes here to do a side by side comparison with. I just joined a local rifle and pistol club (New members are added from the waiting list in March). I have not had a chance to find out yet if any of the rifle guys there are using expensive glass. They were not at the quarterly general meeting this evening.

I have watched some of Mr. Eagleman's YouTube videos of his testing of one of the Tract scopes recently. It involved dialing the turrets constantly while watching TV, followed by the scope being installed on a school rifle and used by students for several months.

The only question I have would be durability. The tracking seems to be spot on. In the rockslide drop testing the tract they tested failed. Yeah I know most folks don't intentionally abuse their scopes but you can't knock the reputation NF has.

It seems to me that the durability of use in dialing the Tract turrets is satisfactory. However, I would guess that there a lot more NF products being used out there. Hence, the chances of them encountering real world accidents is greater.

It is up to each shooter to decide if they want or need the NF reliability in the field. Several years ago I slipped an fell in front of the house on a Feb. morning with a rifle on it's way to a gunsmith. The weather guy said the freezing rain would miss my town, it didn't and I did not put down any calcium chloride the night before. I knew it was icy but still fell.

I know how to fall & the rifle was in a case , my point is you never know. You can be walking on dry leaves in the woods and take a tumble going down a slight slope because the wet clay ground underneath was wet and the leaves moved like they were greased.

I have had accidents that have done in fishing rods, so I know the frustration of broken equipment in the field. But those equipment failures were not in another country or some thing that my life depended on.

I have both, (3) of the 3-15 and (1) of the 4-20. I'm completely satisfied with them. The glass is as bright and clear as I could use, tracking and zero retention has been perfect. The 3-15 went on my main rifle to SA last year. It needed no adjustments when I checked zero in camp and was still on when I got back to the states.

Tract makes very good scopes with world class glass. Great folks to deal with and their business style is great for the working class guy. You get a scope that would be much higher priced if distributers were involved.

I had one FFP model. Tracking was spot on. To my eye the glass was not as good as my Meoptas or Steiner h6xi. I no longer have it .

While I have not used either yet, I bought two first focal plane scopes from Jon at Tract. I got the Eagleman reticles in both. I will learn them (IHope) in depth next month at Barbour Creek school. I have great expectations for the SAUER Fieldshoot rifles, 6.5Creedmoor and PRC, both Tract scopes( absolutely stunning) and the upcoming training.

My advice is to get yourself familiar with the Eagle Ballistics app beforehand. There will be enough things to learn on site.
