I had my new 6mm ARC barrel made with a 1:7" twist so I could go with heavy/long bullets. I'm farting around with a hybrid OCW/Ladder load development.
I decided to try some of Sierra's 110gr. MatchKings. Those things have such a long profile! They have to be .220" off the lands to even fit the magazine!
Just for reference, the 103gr. Hornady ELD-X fit perfectly when .020" off the lands.
I'm still tempted to shoot the Sierra's with a reduced load and work up until pressure signs. Yay or Nay?

I love the ELD-X too. They're my "go to" out of my 20" Liberty barreled gas gun (my daughter's deer gun).
This new barrel is more for target shooting in my AR style bolt gun (no gas). I want to try dedicated match bullets. I'll go down to the 95 gr. Match Kings and the Tipped Kings as well.
I hope I'm not getting into dangerous pressures by seating the 110's too far in; that's my only concern.
I've attached a picture of the rifle with the handguard removed. It's a fun little "breakdown" style rifle. Just twist the handguard on and off to install or remove barrel. This started its life as a .223/5.56 rifle. I just swapped the barrel and bolt and now it's a 6mm ARC rifle.
The next step is a suppressor.
Thanks!

I would bump it back to fit the mag and work your loads.
So far I have always been able to find the accuracy and speed I wanted.
Just me, but I don't like the idea of making one into a single shot unless it's absolutely necessary

If it's slow fire longvrange shooting then seated long and using as a single shot might give you the best LR performance on targets; if you ll hunt or want repeater capability a different bullet like the 103 X mentioned may be to your liking.

As others have mentioned try the 110 s both short (mag compatible) and long to see performance differences then you can make an educated decision.

Good luck 👍

You may well have issues with that bullet. It has an extremely long ogive which comes at the expense of bearing surface. It's possible that seating to mag length will end up putting some of the bearing surface into the shoulder/body volume severely limiting the case volume and neck tension. I wouldn't try using that bullet in a AR. That bullet was designed around the 6mm bench rest crowd. 6Dasher, 6 BR Norma, 6XC. The only commercial caliber I believe they provide data for is the 6 Creedmoor.

Try it but if loading for an AR I wouldn't use those bullets. I load the 110 ATips in my bolt 6ARC as I have more room in the mag but the 108 ELD-M is excellent for AR mags.

I also have a bolt gun in 6ARC that the 110's will work for. I was just trying them out in this new barrel.

Well at least you have a place to use the 110s if they don't work in the AR.

Well I finally made it to the rang with the new barrel and CONFIRMED those 110's are not going to work. I had 2" groups with those. I got sub MOA with my 103 ELD-X's. I like what I'm seeing on these first shots with the ELDs.
