hey guys,
I have a tikka 300 wsm. Im very limited on my seating depth due to my clip being 2.90 inches. I saw somewhere awhile ago that someone customized a tikka clip so that he could extend his bullet seating dept. I have been looking for this info, if anyone has it please PM me the link so i can get in touch with him. Thanks!

Just a thought, but maybe you could buy a clip made for a .300 win. Mag that would give you the length that you need.

Great thought, as I believe that all Tikka rifles are all built off of a long action. However the 300 win mag is smaller in diameter than the 300 wsm, so this presents an issue. Winchester states that it's wsm line of cartridges is not based off of any other case, so we need to choose a magazine that has the same, or slightly larger internal diameter.

Body diameter at the base of the 300 wsm is .555 and it barely tapers over the 1.464-inch run to the start of the 35-degree shoulder. That said, it is smaller than the 404 Jeffery, so that gives us a great starting point of any of the RUM chamberings. If Tikka made a RUM anything you want that mag.

Of course there is always the much easier and better route of replacing the factory bottom metal altogether and getting an upgrade.

I've done some poking around for the same thing. Seems like attempts to modify the magazine have fizzled out for one reason or another. I just seat the bullet out as far as I can and adjust through powder charge weight. Probably the best fix for the short mag problem is a CDI bottom metal with an AI mag. You can have a local gunsmith install it or send your stock to them and they can do it.

I just tried fitting a saum case into a tikka long mag- too fat. You'll have to carefully remove the spacer at the back of your mag & modify the follower to not tilt. It can be done, but it can also be messed up easily. Talk to Jason or Greg at tikkaperformance.com

I dont know about the SAUM's but the WSM's work perfectly in the long action magazines. they are all the same just some have a spacer. you will also need to file back the bolt stop.

As luck would have it, I stumbled into a t3 300 whizzum this weekend & I can second Mike's statement above. Wsm cases fit the long mags just fine. Just be aware that Tikka mags don't have anti tilt followers...
