I just recently tried out one of the SWFA SS scopes on my tikka 223. I had been hearing about them from a coworker that's was impressed by them while out shooting long range with his buddies. I have to admit I have been impressed as well. I bout the 10x42 with moa-quad reticle for $300 it is very hard to beat. Clear focuses well tracks well defined audible clicks on the turrets.

its a little more than you requested, but Im gonna go with the new SHV F1 4-14x50. Its a lot of scope, but a very good one as well.

I just mounted a SWFA SS 3-15x42 on a Savage Model 12FCV .223
It has more than enough magnification for 600yds at right at $699.99

I have the primary arms ffp 4-14x44 with the R-grid reticle on my 6.5 Creedmoor and I like it a lot the swfa ss is a little bit clearer but both are great for the money.
