Thinking of a 6.5/280AI

Thinking if I do something 6.5 it would be a 6.5/280AI. I have plenty of once fired 280 AI brass.
I would like to know where this would sit in the avalanche of 6.5's? Above the PRC but below the magnum 6.5's??
This is just a dream right now. Post or PM if you have experience or intel.

After watching from the sidelines about the 280 AI for years, I finally joined the crowd 2 1/2 years ago. I found that forming cases from 280 Rems was easy and that the new cases lasted forever. Velocities were much higher than I expected and i suspect the 6.5 version will do the same. Feeding issues that I had with my hunting fat stubby rounds went away. I now love the case design and I am sure the 6.5 will perform well. Just keep with the fast twist barrels as is the norm now and it will do everything you expect.

Should put you somewhere between the 6.5 PRC and 264WM.

This cartridge intrigues me as well.

I have one with a 26" krieger barrel, Berger 140vld at 3110. It's not the higher node

I'm a long legged guy and the 6.5x280AI with a 156 sure fills that need 24 1/2 barrel with a healthy dose of RL-33 will give you 3044fps. I've had it up a tad over 3100.

6.5wsm with a 144LRHT running 3200fps is just about the same numbers down range. Both are a pleasure to shoot and both like to shoot little bitty groups. My wife has her 1322yrd milk jug with the WSM and her 1769yrd jug with the 6.5x280AI. Build it, you won't be disappointed.

How would the 6.5 Sherman LA compare?

You do away from the belt, and have almost the same thing as a belted mag. I have 6mm/280AI and having a 25/280AI.
Yet to develop a load for the 6mm. Working other projects presently.

I just think the .280a.i. is a sleek case design and mine has. Impressed me.

7 SAUM is ballistic twin with the 280 ackley.

The gunsmith showed me a short fat SAUM because he shoots F class. Went with .280a.i because I had a set on it after several suggestions and recommendations.

I'm sure it performs if you want to go down that path
