The 6.5x68 and its big brother the 8x68 were made by RWS in Germany back in the 1930's
the case is 68mm long 4mm longer than the 30-06 and is also wider
The cartridge base is in between the standard and magnum head size
it was designed for long range mountain hunting shooting game like the Chamois.
with the right bullet you can hunt anything from varmints up to big game.
With the 85 grain bullet doing 3700 fps up to the 140 grain doing 3000
using powders like IMR-4350 and H-4831 and magnum primers

The Rifle I am building is on a Winchester model 70 action and a 26" 1-9 twist heavy varmint profile barrel in a carbon fiber A-5 style stock
