Take a look at this Origin for me…

My son shot/hunted in a misty rain yesterday….he left the farm to head back to school, and sent his rifle with a friend back to me…just wanted to do a quick cleaning/wipe down before returning to the safe when I noticed this…I'm nowhere remotely near a gunsmith, this just didn't look right to me…thanks for the comments

It's that shim-looking piece I'm concerned about….sure looks torqued/twisted…I don't believe I've ever taken this bolt apart…rapidly approaching 300 rounds fired..

You're good……I think it acts like a spring to some extent to keep a little tension on the pin

Thanks for your help…makes me feel better…that bolt looks awfully rough, doesn't it? Always keep it wiped down and lubed, I'd say, but it sure looks worn!

The term for those kind of springs was "wave spring" when I became aware of them 20 years ago or so.
