switching to hunting bullet for 6.5 saum, input welcome

I like the 140 grain JLK VLD bullets in my 6.5 x 284. There is a pretty long wait to get some
but well worth it IMO..I have only shot deer but with no problems at all!

I have had interesting results with the Berger 140 VLD. Hit a deer at 563 yds with one from a 6.5-06 at 3004 fps. Blew up on the neck/shoulder junction. Used on Mon on an antelope at 246 yds. Caught the near side shoulder and blew up. Dead is dead but I'd like some penetration. It was suggested to me to try the hybrids as the jacket is supposed to be slightly thicker. Now these bullets are from 6 1/2 yrs ago so newer may work better. For this particular rifle they are way too "soft".

I've used a Berger 130 VLD hunting on pronghorn and mule deer with no issues whatsoever. Also ran a 136 Scenar L through the shoulders of a pronghorn at 235 yards but that's not a big sample.
