Need some advice on what happened to my 30 nosler slowly over the last 3 months.

Gun is rem 700 action with 26" proof 1-10

When I developed my load with RL26 81 gr with 205 elite hunter Gun shot amazing sometimes less than 1/2 moa consistently
@ 3055 fps. I've shot close to around 150 rounds of that load with no issues till about the last 20 shots. I have a velocity of 3145fps and pretty good pressure on the bolt also.
The gun has slowly been speeding up for about the last 50-70 rounds and still shot amazing.
I backed load off to 80.5 gr yesterday and still has pressure and speed is 3120 fps and did not group well.
Loaded up some more last night and dropped to 79.7 gr and it's back to shooting like it was still 3100 fps but no pressure now
I had barrel checked for a carbon ring by the gunsmith that built it and it has no carbon ring , I have not changed anything with components. Powder has all been from same 8lb'er , ADG brass which chambers great but has be fired 5 times or more.

Any ideas would be appreciated because I'm out of ideas

These two groups are 80.5 gr with lots of pressure 3120 fps

This was this morning at 79.7 gr velocity was 3100 fps and no pressure

I experienced something similar with a 28N and it was due to a carbon ring. Do you have a borescope? Have you scrubbed a carbon ring out in the last 150 rounds?

I scrubbed the crap out of it and just borescoped. There is no carbon ring according to the gunsmith I didn't physically look through the borescope

PROOF barrels can speed up after about 80 rounds, the sweet spot for break in is anywhere from 60 to about 100 rounds but yours might have taken a bit longer. I have a 30 nosler, actually had 2 of them, and have been shooting proof bbls in both of them since 2014.
I would say you bbl has seasoned and is fine if it is now consistent and no carbon ring. I would shoot another 10-12 rd string and if it stays within 10fps - you are fine.

if there is no carbon ring there's a good chance the barrel has sped up as others have sad . Just back the load down to original 3055 fps and check your group size. you have vertical in your groups which means your in upper part of node. If you have stiff bolt, swipes or clickers your over pressure back down and see if things return. Rl 26 is temper mental, time of day you shoot, moisture in the air can affect load. Try staying within 3% of your load node and work back up.

Thanks , I will just go get my elk with it and then once freezer is full I will get it back to my 3055 fps sweet spot.

I understand that they speed up and that's what I was thinking but would I have pressure during that process ?
Not always, but you will get pressure once your brass is no longer expanding, if the two coincide, then there will be a greater increase.
One of my 300WM barrels sped up at the same time as I started using 3 times fired brass, went from 3160fps to 3240fps in the blink of an eye, had to drop 1.5g of RE25 to get 3160fps again. Pressure wasn't excessive as there were no signs at all.

Cheers.

When your barrel speeds up then that load will be hot. The adg brass hides pressure well and usually after 3 firings pressure pops up in my experience. Usually have to back it down to the speed you were running. I've had this happen a few times with adg brass and newer barrels sucks. But your load does seem a little hot with rl 26 I would start over at 77 grains and work back up with the barrel being broke in. I don't start load development in my rifles til 150 to 200 rds. I will shoot virgin brass get them fireformed while I break in barrel

The barrel speed up is likely the issue but isn't 26 known to be a speed demon and a little temp sensitive?

If so, it might be a combo of the two and not all barrel speed up. I've stayed away from 26 for that reason. In TX we very likely will start days in the 40-50's and end them in the 80's.

Good luck, I'm using h1000 in mine.

The temp I have shot in should not have affected it to much, the hottest I've shot in was 77F and the other morning was 41 F. I don't believe temp not be my issue.
I have been wrong before though 🤣
