substituting H4831SC for H4831

Would substituting H4831SC for H4831 be beneficial to get a better case fill? Better case fill helps with consistency. Just a thought since my case is only filled 90% with H4831SC. H4831 will fill it more close to 100% for the 6.5 x 284

I compared H4831 to H4831sc in my 6.5x284 several years ago. I used 53gr with a Fed210M primer. While H4831 filled the case a bit more(not 100%) it made no difference in accuracy, velocity, or ES. My pet load for my 6.5x284's is Retumbo. It fills the case(Lapua or Norma) without high pressure signs, has the same accuracy, and about 100FPS higher velocity and very low ES . As claimed, the H4831sc did meter more consistently then the H4831 in my RCBS Chargemaster.

The only downside for me is I may have to redo the development again because of variation from lot to lot. I am eager to try that solely on case fill. BTW, how did it group with the Retumbo? How much powder did you use? It sure will fill that case, possibly a crush seat without a drop tube. I believe you may be using heavy bullets.

My three rifles with 26" barrels all group .25MOA. I use 58gr, Fed210M, Lapua brass, 140VLD's. I'm partial to the JLK's. No crush seat and no drop tube, complete burn. Velocities are 2975-3000FPS in my rifles with ES under 12FPS. I seat from .040-.075' off the lands. I only use 140's. Why waste the long range ballistic performance with the lighter bullets?
This is my most recent addition, Rem700 action on a Barlien 26',1:8 twist barrel.(not sure why it's sideways)

Wow, that is a load of powder, I am going to use this powder on my next mission. Thanks Fox.
