I have been shooting squeeks [belding ground squirrels] here in Oregon for about 10 years now. I have shot from 10 ft high platforms, chairs mounted on truck ladder racks heavy benches, light benches, rotating chairs with arm rests, tri-pods, bi-pods, mono-pods. I have sat in one spot for 8 hours shooting 360 degrees out to 400 yards and I have walked from one end of the field to the other shooting 50 feet. I have killed squirrels in the snow, wind, rain, all sun, no sun, hot, cold, you name it. I have used .22 rimfire, .22 mag, .17 Rem, .223, 6 mm. Pistols, Single shots, bolt guns and semi auto's. I love all of it, but the most fun I have is walking. Just creeping along, shooting offhand. I also use a bi-pod and a small three legged stool that the seat rotates for when multiple longer range shots come up. While I have a versatile arsenal to choose from, my most effective tool is the Ruger 10-22 target model and a 6 power scope with a ranging retical. With this setup I can easily make 100 yard shots or longer. The stool and bi-pod are adjusted so that I can rest my elbow on my knee and get a good steady. The 10-22 makes follow up shots easy, and there are lots of them.
I still enjoy a heavy bench and long range shots, but the walk about allows me to see things in a different way and get in some much needed exersize.
So what ever way you do it, have fun and make the fur fly.gun)

You know its going to be a good day in the rat patch, when you dispatch a couple with a pickup tire driving down the road, Although I prefer a .204 Ruger and a bench, or a 17 HMR out for a stroll, but a tire does save ammo..
