Springfield Waypoint bad groups troubleshoot help?

I just got my Waypoint in 308. Carbon Barrel. Adjustable Stock.
Never shot a bolt action in my life, let alone for groupings.
First time out, these were my best groups.
Federal GMM 168gr.
You cant go wrong with the street price of little over 1900$.

These are the groups. Forgot to attach.

Ooops, yes, you can! What if you could have had better groups than that for less money? You've already paid your money, so enjoy it and learn. I remember shooting 1/3 MOA with a modified Winchester 70 and thinking, "I'll never do better than this!"

He cant go wrong with the Waypoint, which is the class of rifle he has and is the caliber he chooses, and the price point hes willing to enter. Its hard rifle to beat in that class.
So should he get a "modified" Winchester 70 instead?

No, you missed the point. Today there are much better rifles than the Waypoint in .308 for less money. I mentioned Winchester 70 as example of thinking you are doing great when you could do better.

Whats MUCH better than the Waypoint in its class? Sub $2k cuz thats what thy can be found for on the street.

I suggest finding more than 1 or 2 different factory ammos to make a conclusion on the rifles accuracy.

I have a 6 creedmore waypoint in my stable. 1 sight in round to zero.
First group 1.01 with 90g hornady.
Second group .655 with 103g hornady
Third group .635 with 108g hornady
4th group .430 with 105g berger
Rifle seems to favor the heavier bullets and why you gotta try a wide variety of ammo or load your own. What's not to like for factory rifle and factory box ammo.
