I just viewed this sight today and found it very informative. I recently looked at an older .222 remington. It was made by springfield, and the model number which I am unsure of, I remember to be 870. It was bolt action, with a clip. I have never seen a rifle like it, and was wondering maybe if anyone could give me some information regarding it. Any help or knowlege would be greatly appreciated, thankyou.

It's the 840, made by Savage as the 340 with a better piece of wood. I had two, one in 222 and another in 30-30. Both shot pretty well, especially when you consider they were very inexpensive little rifles.
