Spring Bear 2024

Flatbow- please put up another picture or two of your bear. Preferably something with a good side shot end to end. It's incredibly tough to get a true feel for a bruin when they're propped on a log like that.

308 with 165 Accu's is about as good as a bear load as you're going to find!

Side note, here's a short list of the rounds I've seen used on bruins over the years:

22/250
Swift
243
6/06
25/06
6.5/06
270
7 Mashburn Super
7 STW
308
06
30 Gibbs
340 Wby
416 Rigby
Archery

Probably missed a few, but this is a goodly share of the list. They'll all work, just get your first poke in the right place from the get go. If you screw up and get in a poor hit, IME you'll most likely not recover the bruin. I am not in anyway shape or form a fan of shooting at bruins much beyond 300 yds for this reason.
This guy says the same and whacks bears like it's going out of business!

Actually this one is a pretty small bear, a sow but was 8 years old. From 600 plus yards its really difficult to judge bears and with her age she moved like a bigger bear.

I watch a bit of Lampers (and Gritty) stuff. Those boys get after it!
Ryan Avery with shoot to hunt is an old buddy of mine from back when I still built custom trad. Bows. Kind of lost track of him when he got so busy with Rokslide but recently reunited with him.

Dig it. Disagree with minor things…but would share a hunt with any of those guys.

Dogs,
This bear did have an absolutely beautiful hide on her. Killed her just below snow line about 100yds south of Canadian border.
Taxidermist said it may be the best ID hide he has seen, at least in the past 10 years.

Let me inspire you a little.
Most of these are my oldest Son Logan the guy with him is my best friend Todd, they are his plott hounds.
There is a couple there killed without hounds

Oregon starts 4/1 as well. Hoping to take my son out, he really wants a bear for some reason. Hopefully work doesn't get to much in the way. Usually good bear hunting around here since banning hunting with hounds. I've never hunted them but usually see a few.

I figured it for a 3 year old sow.

Yeah at 600 they are tough to judge well, but with some time and patience on the bigger glass one can sort them out if they know what to look for.

The one in the first pic has a white chevron, I don't see it on this pic?
