Sierra TGK Performance

I was wondering if anyone out there has taken any big game animals using Sierra TGK bullets? Elk or moose? If so, how did they perform?

Small deer, just as you would hope. My 10yr old used them for deer last year. They worked well. He was using the 130gr in his 6.5prc.

He has a cow elk tag this year and hope to find out how they do there too. Sorry, not elk or moose, but after the deer, I am more than OK trying them on larger game. They are accurate too. We have switched to the 145gr loaded in a 6.5prc and last weekend at 500 yards my now 11yr old put down an MOA or less group at 500.

No moose or elk here, good friend of mine killed a nilgai with a custom 270 wildcat (6.8 western before it was a thing) and dropped it in its tracks. I've killed a few pronghorn and plains deer with my 6mm ai and 100 grain tgk. I absolutely love the bullet, and have not recovered any slugs. Shot a big bodied buck last year on a quartering away angle, went through a shoulder, took out a length of spine, then exited the neck. Also shot a pronghorn at 440 yards last year through the lungs and performed perfectly.

Check the kill threads on rokslide. A lot of guys on that forum swear buy the game harvesting abilities of the tmk.
I have them loaded in a 6 arc I hope to try this fall on deer.

I have the 150gr TGK loaded up in my 7mm WBY.
Haven't had any volunteers for ballistics testing yet.
Accuracy wise, they have been good out to 1,000 yards.

Shot an elk last fall, 410 slight quarter away with 6.8 Western/175 TGK. Bullet went in ribs and out shoulder blade on the offside. It was inside the hide and about half the bullet was left but big damage inside. Didn't go 20 yards.

I am switching to TGK also. The price of Accubonds are just too high now. I have a few boxes of the old priced Accubonds and will use them but right now I want to develope a good load for my 300 win mag, 30-06 and 308 with the TGK's.

Only deer with a7-08. But they are very effective! Still not sure why I switched to Hammers, but I'm always looking for a better mouse trap. Not sure the Hammers are, but both are good.
This may not help you, but it's the best I have.

Wife shot her first muley with the 100tgk last year at 556 yards. Shot was right behind the shoulder and had a 2ish inch exit. Buck went 30 yards and piled up. Im loading the 165tgk in my 280ai now. Only 1 animal but the performance was what I was looking for.

Just deer and bears, very good on game performance. They seem to have the tougher jacket like the HPBT Gamekings with pretty quick opening and then expansion stops mid shank and they penetrate very well. 130 6.5s and 165 7mms are what we have used and performance has been very similar between the two. They have been very easy to tune as well. Gamekings have been quietly, consistently, reliably, quickly killing critters of all makes and models for a loooong time.

Plan to use the 145 gr version this fall in my 6.5x55 for elk. Ive been using the 150 gr ABLR in the 6.5 creed - pile of deer, 1 elk and it is spectacular. Both my 6.5s really like the LRAB but thought Id give the TGK a go. They are accurate in both my 6.5s.
