I have a 6.5 CM that I haven't been using for much other than shooting steel and decided that I wanted a short hunting rifle to use with the same action. Decided I would swap barrels for an 18" Proof chambered in 7mm-08 to shoot the 175 EH Bergers.
I have been questioned for doing this, but I think it will work great. Have a Savage 308 with a factory barrel cut down to 16.5" shooting 168's, which is performing flawlessly. My son took the deer in my profile picture last year at 326 yards and dropped it.
So I just got this put back together and looking to see if anyone has been running heavies in a 7-08? Would appreciate any and all commentary.
