I'm having a 30 nosler chambered up and I'm seriously considering taking it down to 22" instead of 24.
It'll be used with a long suppressor and I'm hoping to send 220 Bergers around 2950.
Anyone have experience with a shorter 30 cal with similar capacity?
Id love to hear some velocities

My 26" 30 nosler would go 3100 w/ high performance powders. H1000/N565 ran well at 3030fps. 230 hyb went 2975 pretty easily with Retumbo and N565. Never tried N570 w/ the 230s but it would go faster I'm sure. These are accuracy speeds, pressure was generally 50-75fps faster. I've oberserved short barrel 300rums(20")going over 3100 with 215 Bergers. That was with N570 and a warm load no doubt, not my rifles.

There's a thread on rokslide where Ryan Avery built a 20" 30 nos +p, ti action, magnesium chassis. He's getting mid 2900s and good accuracy with 215hyb. The ti action is likely showing psi 30-50fps sooner than a high end steel, but the +P throat prob gives it all back. You should be able to match his velocity no problems. Maybe exceed it with the extra 2" of barrel.

Thanks for the input guys
I contacted my smith and asked him to go 22" on the Nos.
I'll post some velocity data when I get the rifle together

Yeah I ran the numbers at 2850 fps and even down to 3500' (which is the lowest elevation I'll ever hunt) the 220 lrht will still be moving at 1800 fps, and carry over 1500 ft lbs at 1k.
Should put about anything down with authority
Have you evaluated the pointed 220 LRHT on game? I know a few animals were taken with 190 LRHT this last season and they performed like a Berger usually does.
