if you space 2 pieces of 1/4 steel 1 or more inches apart your round will go throught the first but not the second by spacing the 2 peices of steel it makes it eqivlent to aprox 1" of steel you may have to replace the front peice but not the second as it will stop it now for you naysayers this concept is use by nasa to stop particles moving at 44000 km/h from peircing space craft although what they use for a spacer is a honeycolmbfor thous who have to pack there target into place like me this is very help full as it reduces the targets mass grately
this also means that one target will last longer and be cheaper for thouse of us who it is hard for them to get armor plate
