I'm going to have a custom rifle built and I went down and handled a few factory Remingtons to get a feel for barrels and weight. Is the Sendero SFII barrel just the varminter fluted? Lets talk new guns not the old such and such?

BUFFALOBOB I PUT THIS ONE IN THE RIGHT SPACE JUST FOR YOU /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And I appreciate that and will happily provide you with some information.

From the Rock Creek website under "cut rifled". I suspect that this is the old Sendero not the SFII. You will notice that B is bigger for the Varmint and C is bigger for the Sendero.

Tactical Contours

------------A -----B------C----D---E -F --G
Rem Vmt 1.25" 0.940" 0.830" 3" 7" 26" 27"
Sendero 1.25" 0.875" 0.875" 3" 7" 26" 27"
M24/M40 1.20" 0.900" 0.900" 4" - 26" 27"
AMU/MTU 1.25" 0.900" 0.900" 5" - 29" 30"
Navy 1.70" 1.125" 1.125" 4" 6" -28" 29"

So with my custom build....I'd like to stay light but have good accuracy out to at least 800 yards....will a fluted 5.5 or M24 fit the bill?
