I'm about ready to check my scope for tracking.

It's a 6X24

I have it zeroed and shimmed for 250yrds.

Do I need to take the shims out and start lower?

Should I shoot at 100 or move to say 300 yrds?

I'd say go ahead and do the test. It's really important to know the exact distance you're shooting/testing at so you can understand the POI change you get.
