The 243 cartridge gives up nothing to the 6mm creed. I really wanted a 243, but it is tough to find one with an 8 twist barrel - that is the only upside to the creed. I think this high country is 1:9.25
Yea I definitely want the 8 twist so I can sling some heavies at coyotes way out there!

Thats exactly what my Bergara was purchased for
I'm interested in seeing how this does, for a Savage that I can leave it "as is" and not want to take apart

I wish the high country 6.5 prc had a 26" barrel. But i may end up with that....or the m77 Hawkeye longe range that does have 26" pipe. I am really used to the accutrigger and all my savages shoot well so tahts a hard choice...

The beautiful thing about a Savage is you can get another barrel, a wrench, and a set of go/no go gauges and switch the caliber yourself. As long as it will fit and feed through the magazine.

I know.....dang....the 24 would "handier" too....that hawkeye is 11+ lbs and im not sure i want another heavy one.

I have a Rem varmint in 243 AI w/ 9.25 twist. It shoots the 105 gr. bullets very well

Highdrum: Suggest you check the weight on some rifles. The pre-64 model 70 featherweight was just about 8 lbs without a scope. An 8 lb rifle is plenty light for mountain hunting.

Axis xp2 is 6.5lbs 1/2 moa possible in my creed. Thinking the high country but the 280 ai is tempting in axis xp2
The new featherweight is 7# on the dot for a Magnum short action. Comparing a CRF action to a push feed in a synthetic stock isn't exactly apples to apples either. This rifle looks to be a Savage version on the kimber "open country" heavy sporter fluted, camo stock. They weigh 7#. I have nothing against this rifle at all, but for a niche looking mountain "high country" rifle, she's a lil heavy. I hope these rifles shoot great, they look nice. I just prefer a bit lighter. My 338 rum w/ 28" barrel weighs 8# w/o optics.
