I have a savage 17wsm in a boyds tactcool stock. I just noticed that the barrel can be moved up and down at the very front of the forearm part of the stock. Maybe 1/16 inch plus or minus . Is this acceptable.

Is it the barrel moving, or the action? Try tightening the action screws on the stock. If it's the barrel, try screwing the barrel back in to the action. If still in doubt, take it to a gunsmith

Not moving at the action. Shot it today shot decent at 100 yards.I free floated it . Maybe removed a little too much stock, I don't know.it's flexing I guess is a better description at the opposite end of the action.

Update, it's not the barrel flexing ( I'm stupid), it's the stock flexing at the end of the forearm. Shouldn't matter right.
