This thread is going to be brutal on the bank account. I doubt most are SAAMI chambers so how much freebore did you chamber the 7 SAUM to run 180gr Hybrids?

I'm running a long action with a .195.

I've heard of people using .205s and based on my measurements you could actually go more but it may hurt you with other bullets.

It's definitely longer than saami, not sure how but I made a dummy round and gave it to my gunsmith and he just chambered it accordingly haha. My COAL is 3.034" and that's with a .020-.025" jump.

I was thinking about doing a 25 saum also.

i run a .200" on 180's and now on 195's I'm using .220"

I'd also like to hear each of your thoughts in regards to what you are experiencing about the SAUM Cartridge Performance itself.

To me the 7saum is one of few cartridges where
Apparently thru design & application everything comes together making it a uniquely Overachieving Cartridge in many respects.

Those of you who have shot the 7 side by side with the 6.5 what is the real world difference in performance to say 600/700 yds and recoil? I built the 6.5 and the more I read about the 7, the more I think maybe I should have went 7.

Recoil is about the same with the heavies in the 6.5 given similar rifle weight. What I like the most of the 7 SAUM is ability to shoot the heavy 175-180 class bullets. Within the distance you specified I'm not sure the critter could tell the difference.
On the other hand, that 6.5 feels lonely and needs a bigger brother next to it

I have 2 SAUMs built by GA Precision and love them.

First is a 6.5GAP4S (aka 6.5 SAUM), #16 Extreme Hunter. Bought in 2013. Antelope, mule deer and elk have experienced the bite from this one. Still using the OG load developed by Pat and George, RP 300SAUM brass necked down and trimmed, 61.0 H1000 and a 139/140 grain bullet.

Second is a 7 SAUM on a Defiance anTi XM action. Shooting 175 Berger elites in ADG brass over Reloder 23 and F215M. Took another bull with this one and absolutely love it.

SAUMs work near and far!

I have a 7 SAUM in a MG ultralight. I have been using 162 ELDs but working on a load with 165 sierra game changers. Have killed lots of stuff with it over the years.
