Ruger no.1 33xc

so it's been on my mind heavy lately, I have always had a thing for Ruger no.1s. Thinking about having one chambered in a big boomer, possibly 33xc. 24" barrel would be a compact hammer with 300gr bergers around 3000fps. Anyone have any experience with something like this? I've heard mixed things about guys having bad accuracy with no.1's, I own 1 in a 7 mag and it shoots great. I know I'd be better off building on a bolt action, but just something about this build on a no.1 I can't shake. Picture for attention

I "THINK" the key to it is not retaining they are perfect the way they are, then comparing to bolt guns drastically modified. I had one stock #3 that put 10 cast bullets under an inch, and very literally would drive nails. The .30-06 pictured would not shoot, or hold zero until the stock was replaced, then it shot very well. Partly a little more rise in the stock, helps with cheek weld. Saw a fellow made one for F-class a while back.

I sure love me some no. 1's . That seems a little hard kicking to me . Likely the weight of an Abrams tank with any kind of heavy barrel . Most of mine are 26" barrels , wouldn't you want like a 30" minimum ?

Iam about to start on a couple of builds with #3's and need to find at least one 308 head size extractor does any one have any ideas on where to find one please

I wanna stay as short as possible while still being able to hit around 3k fps, from what I've seen 24" will let me do that. And with a finished weight around 12lbs with a good brake I don't think recoil would be too bad

Another thought is I have a Thunderbeast 338 ultra can, I'd love to suppress it. But I haven't gotten ahold of Thunderbeast to see if it will handle the pressure. I do know they rate it for 338 lapua with an 18" barrel, so I'm thinking it would be okay? Not sure yet

Have a 300wm and it sure is good looking but not the most accurate. Was my dad's gun so he had a break done and a recoil pad done .

Gotta love the No. 1s!!! Have them in... 7 RM, 300 WM, 300 WBY, 375 H&H Ackley Improved.

Generally... a single pressure point on the barrel gets you the best accuracy. I dont have it anymore but I had a laminate 22-250 that had a set screw that put pressure on the barrel, which combined with a trigger install... shot tiny tiny groups. I was very sorry that I got rid of it.

Im shooting the 375 without a brake a max loads!!!
