Remington 700 trigger

I am trying to do a trigger job on my model 700. I have done one before, but it was many many years ago. I am using the instructions from quarterbore. When I removed the over travel screw completely from the trigger to oil the threads it will only go in about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way before it stops turning. This happens on both of my triggers. What am I doing wrong? How can I fix it?
