Rem 700 firing pin

I want to replace old factory rem 700 firing pin. Looked at Midway they have 2 PTG models - classic and speedlock. Both descriptions read alike. What's the difference? Are these good?

You want a Gre-Tan firing pin assembly, not a PT&G. Unless this is a target rifle and used as such, stick with the std. model for reliable ignition.

Id veer away from it. I got light strikes with the tubb assm.
I had the best luck with the factory assm.

Would it happen to be on a cartridge with a small rifle primer?

no lg rifle. 6.5x284. I pulled it apart and cleaned back of bolt face good and haven't had a problem since but been thinking about it and wanted to head off any future problems

After market firing pin assemblies are really not a must have item, unless you have a J Lock system now.

No J lock just a 30+ year old spring and pin

Springs are cheap. I keep extras and replace every year.
