Reloading for AR-15

In Highpower, a go-to load is 77 SMK or Hornady 75 BTHP over 24.2 to 24.6 of VV N-140. This is a very stable load, and it shoots out of every gun I own. In my comp rifle, it gives 1/4 MOA at 200 yds. It shoots better than I can hold. I seat just under mag length.

I also agree with what was said about the 120 gr .264 Gold Dots. Very accurate in my 6.5 Grendel's and I killed a deer with one of them this past season and it did and AWESOME job. I picked up some of the 62 gr Gold Dots to try in my newly built 18" Oden Works 8 twist wylde barrel but it has been waaaaaay too hot to try to do any load work up this summer. I am waiting on cooler weather.

I have been shooting an AR-15 for about 30 years in the service rifle matches at that time I was the only one on the line shooting it and caught my share of flack over it that's where mine got the name mouse gun but anyway I have had excellent success with W748 you will have to experiment a little depending on bullet 23 grains to 25.5 I use it in my bolt gun once in awhile have shot one hole five shot groups at 200 good luck

Load on the Varget can....26.5 with 55gr....Definitely start lower....works in my 3 ar's and one bolt gun....h322, TAC for heavy bullets

Favorite pet-load... that's an easy one, I use this for everything; it's a meat ax in a .22 cal and a tack driver all in one.
I think the first few months or so when Sierra came out with this bullet I started using it in this load, never looked back. Plus its twist friendly.

Brass; most the time Federal but others work well
Primer; CCI #41
Powder; Hodgdon H-335 (25.0grs)
Bullet; Sierra Game King 65gr SPBT
Vel's; 2900 fps in a 20" inch less in the 16" inch it really varies from rifle to rifle.

Note: Must use a Lee Factory Crimp Die.

Mine is 26.0g of BLC-2 behind the 55gn fmj and 62gn sierra semi point. the 62 makes a mess out of coyotes and is very accurate being a flat base bullet, not so great for long range but neither is the .223.

69gr SMK 25gr WIN 748 is a pretty good place to start. Some manuals list this over max, some go a bit higher. I fiddled with the 77 when I was chasing leg matchs, now I just pick a bigger rifle.

Think I'm going to try Speer 75 gr gold dot rifle bullets with some reloader 15. I have 7.5 lbs of reloader 15 need to find a use for.

I shoot alot of 62gr gold dot, Can't remember load at moment. 53gr v max with 25.8gr Benchmark, 62gr have a load with Benchmark and Varget same velocity. 55gr ballistic tip 26gr Benchmark, both Bm loads over book max for .223 but have shoot well in wydel and 556NM chambers with no pressure signs. Velocity on 53gr load is 3080 in 18in barrel.

What about Speer gold dot rifle bullets
I'm loading the 75gr gold dots using varget. Good accuracy for an AR. This was 300 yds. I'm replacing the 6lb trigger this week, I think it will tighten up some.

In my RRA wyde chamber 1:9 twist, I get consistent 1.25" groups at 100 yd with 25 gr H335 and any 55 grain bullet loaded in mixed range brass. This loaded chronographs to around 2810 out of my 16" barrel. My most accurate loads are with 55 grain VMax bullets and 24.3 gr IMR 3031. Very clean load as well. Another very accurate load has been 55 gr Nosler VG with 25.8 gr IMR 4064. Also had great results with H322 and Benchmark but I couldn't find my data for those.
