Reloading for 30-06 - Barnes Bullets

How many grains of H4350 are you loading ?
I have found 56.2 grains of H4350 to be accurate in several 30-0s with a Barnes 168 TSX. So I would load some rounds at 55.8, 56.2, 56.6 and see if you get two adjacent loads to print very similar and then spilt the difference between the two.

Loaded some 165gr Accubonds for a buddies old 30-06 with 56.5 grains H4350. Shooting .75 MOA at 100 with an Old Leupold 4x scope. His kid is planning on using it for a Buffalo hunt so will see how these do on performance.

Barnes do best when pushed very fast. The light for caliber loads are your friends here. I run a 150 TTSX in my 300 WSM @ 3205 FPS. 150 going into the animal and pretty darn close to 150 coming out of the animal. I would suggest the 130 or 150 grain offerings from Barnes in your rifle. 165-168 if they shoot ok in your rifle and you're shooting game at moderate ranges allowing adequate terminal performance.

Each weight in a given caliber of Barnes bullets are designed to different minimum impact velocities. For example the 150 TTSX and TSX in 30 cal have a min impact velocity of either 1800 or 2000 fps (can't find my notes at the momemnt) while the 168 TSX & TTSX have a minimum impact velocity of 1500.

That sounds counter intuitive but per discussions with Barnes, they stated the 150's are popular with 300 Win Mag shooters so that upped the design to accommodate.
