As a way to get cheap ammo and brass for my 260 rem I am thinking about buying 243 factory ammo as it is $20 for 20 rather than $75 for 20 in 260 rem. Then pull the bullets, resize to 260, work up a powder load and use my 6.5mm projectiles. This will cost me about $26 per 20 rounds and a saving of almost $50 a packet. This seems a better option than buying new brass or once used. Once used is about $10 per 20 in Aussie. Just after brass I can afford to lose hunting. Was looking at buying a 243 win and hunting with that to get the brass but now thinking why not use the rifle I bought for hunting.

I would, being in OZ myself, I know what components are costing and how hard they're becoming to obtain.
You can sell the pulled projectiles on AHN abd recoup some costs.

Cheers.

Cheaper for me in the long run is to buy .243 brass and convert to .260. Powder Valley had Win. .243 cases in the 50 ct. bags recently. Watch their site or go to Gunbot and see what others have.
I would much rather expand necks than pull bullets, dump powder, expand necks and load.
seems like you may be saving $$ but think of what the process is causing in time spent. Just saying!

Not sure if they can order supplies from the US since they live in Australia. We have some pretty tough export laws concerning guns, ammo, optics, etc.

I don't know if brass is sent from the US to your region or any restriction at all, sorry for misunderstanding your location. That would be a problem for you. Does any brass maker ship to your country? PPU is fairly good brass from what i understand. Just shooting in the dark here but they may ship to your region. Hope you find a cheaper solution than what you planned on. Damned export laws!

Lapua is now making 7/08 brass that Is very reasonable and all you would have to do is size the necks down to 6.5 and load.

The cases are the same overall and neck sizing with your 260 rem dies is easy. You can also find 7/08 brass and do the same. Midway has the Lapua for $107.00 per 100 cases. ($21,14 for 20 cases)

This is a great deal on the best brass available.

Up date; They also have the 260 rem brass for .95 cents a piece.

I think he is in Australia and there may be a problem with exporting brass or anything firearms related.
They (Midway or anyone) may not ship outside the USA either. Laws need a little tweaking for other countries IMO.

Thanks Sarge. I didn't catch that he was from Australia.

You are right. But he may be able to get 7/08 down under also and it would be easer and would not thin the necks.

There also may be someone over there that sells Lapua brass if it is not to expensive.

I missed it the first go around myself. Read it twice and caught it. If he can find the Lapua brass he might get lucky and find .260 also. I understand that these guys over there have to pay outrageous
prices for anything firearms related if they can find it. This is a shame on all lawmakers foreign and domestic. They sure don't pose any restrictions on the armed forces helping in wars though do they?

Yeah we can get Lapua brass at about $160 for 100 in 260 rem. The cheapest is Remington at $50 per 50. I was just thinking of buying the PPU 243 ammo as it will come with powder and primer I can use once I find a safe load. It is $1.10 a round loaded. Powder here is about $50 a pound and primers $7-8 per 100. For the extra 10c per round over the Remington I would get powder and primer. And if I buy new brass I will end up doing all the case prep and not want to lose them.

$50.00 a pound, and a lot of the powder we use here is made in your country. It just does not make sense to me. I could not afford to shoot like I do now at that price. If you have Remington brass there feel kind of lucky. You can't find any on the shelves here. "Seasonal Run" is what you see everywhere. Though at $1.00 per case I would hesitate. PPU may be the way to go for you. Good luck, I feel for you.
