Recycling pulled bullets

It simply melts out into the pot, but sometimes a little stirring helps it release.

I would have never thought the lead would leak out of some of the small meplats of most HP rifle bullets. Especially after they impacted a dirt berm. Thank you. Interesting.

Now, I can definitely see it with pistol bullets with the large open tip copper jackets or open bases. That makes sense.

I will admit...I am VERY good at "stirring the pot".

I use all my pulled bullets for foulers. Are they too bad to use for that?

How did you get the molten lead out of the copper jackets?

You may have to cut bullets with a side cutter that do not have lead showing. Otherwise the lead flows out easily

I'd load them see how they shoot. Praire dogs, coyotes, and steeldon't care about ugly bullets. If they shoot under 2 MOA at 100, I'd have no problems shooting them up.

Drill a 3/32" diameter hole through the diameter of each bullet, just above the boattail, on about 150 of these bullets.
Polish each one to a brilliant sheen, on a soft cotton wheel.
String them up on about 18-20 inches of 7 lb. test fishing line.
Tie a small washer on each end to keep the bullets from slipping off the fish line.
Give it to your wife for her next birthday as necklace she can wear every time you both go to the shooting range.

Wow! did he use an extension handle for extra torque or what? The collet puller I use very seldom even scratches the jackets.

I told him to get a collet puller, but I thought he was educated enough to use it correctly. I am going to his place next week and see him. He told me he was starting to reload his own, Hell, he is starting to scare me!

I'd still spend about $5-7 in powder and primers and see how they'd shoot in a .223. That should let you load up 15-20 rounds to test and see if if they do anything weird. Sounds more fun than making a necklace, but far less creative.

Otherwise you're looking at 7 cents per pound as mixed scrap, $1-2 per pound for reclaimed soft lead for the cast boolit crowd. I don't know how many pulled bullets you got from your buddy. Unless he gave you several hundred pounds, I wouldn't make an effort to scrap them

I might just fire a few out of an AR to see the outcome, but it's hast to warm up a bit, at least above freezing. Hell I shake bad enough now.
