I've put together a custom rifle with heavy varmint barrel on Savage receiver. Have been tweaking loads and have achieved 1/2 MOA at 100. Want to tweak a bit more. I'm a Scot/Kraut. We get a bit nerdy at times. No apologies. In the past have read numerous commentaries about torque relative to front and rear Savage receiver screws.

This action is fully bedded with (belicve it or not) JB Weld - steel. It is literally a micro fit. The jam nut and the barrel are free-floated by a full one-eight inch. As bedded, I'm thinking that torque might just as well be the same for both screws.

Any of you know better? Chime in.

Been doing 45 in lbs on my Savages and it seems to work fine. I tend to check and retorque the screws after I fire it few times too.

Hello
I had a savage and a torque screwdriver and I ended up killing the stock.
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing...!
