Thanks for all the compliments gents. I enjoy making these pieces... and I've actually made a lot of friends that were once customers.
This customer has turned into a good friend. I've made him quite a few stocks over the years. Spent some time with him when he was in my state for work. Solid guy.

I pulled out a quilted Maple blank and made this stock.
I went through a laborious process of dying, sanding, dying, sanding.... using different dyes.
Finished it up with some hand rubbed tung oil for a pleasant satin finish.
He's sending the metal off for melonite, which will make a more pleasing theme.
